Class will meet on Jan 25 from 9am to 12pm at Start Here in Lexington.
This class is designed for those who have had experience with acrylic painting and would like to further their abilities.
We will be covering the following:
Expanding your understanding of acrylic paint, use of color, light/shadow, and perspective to create more realistic and natural paintings
Advancing your knowledge of brush strokes, brushes, and mediums to create more visually appealing effects
Enhancing your knowledge of painting materials to have more thorough understanding of how these tools can be used to create the desired effects
The benefits of varnishing, glazing, and washing
Although it is advised you attend both sessions, each class will stand independently of each other. Below is the itinerary for both classes:
We will expand on our basic understanding of color. We will practice brush strokes, learn how to create the colors we need with a limited palette, learn proper paint application for desired effects, learn how to prep our canvas and materials for the ultimate results, and draw in our basic forms and shapes using our paint brush.
We will briefly review the previous week material and then paint the picture displayed. We will gently walk through the process of creating this simple painting using our newly developed skills.
Each class will explore different avenues with painting in acrylic. However, if you can not attend both classes, you are more than welcome to attend one or the other, as both classes will stand independently. However please note that individually purchased classes will receive the early registration discount but will not receive the two day package deal.
In an effort to lower the cost of the class and provide art instruction for everyone, we are offering students the option of bringing their own materials. You can bring your own art supplies or purchase a supply kit at the time of class registration. If you would like to bring your own materials, please see below for the list of supplies you will need for class. If you choose to buy your supplies from us, simply add the supply kit to your cart on the class page. Supply kits are $20 in addition to the cost of the class. Any supply kits purchased will be given to the student the day of the class and will be theirs to keep.
**Please note that we will not have extra materials in class for student use if an item or items are forgotten off the supplies list. It is extremely important that the student come fully prepared. Refunds will not be given if the student arrives without the necessary materials to be able to participate in class.**
